Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in action and mayhem with equal glee, all while telling gripping, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose projects have embodied all of those elements.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by having a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their steady belief and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the core of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our shared irreverent, visionary style to the screen.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
