Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Initiating Abusive Chants Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United just half a year following leading derogatory chants directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. His seven-year spell at Elland Road finished through agreement in August.

Among the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading abusive songs about Wilder during the club’s promotion party in April. Now, the former England player is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to lift the team he loves away from the drop zone.

Previous History Involving Bamford & the Manager

The pair had a past before Leeds earned promotion to the top flight the previous campaign and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. The manager described the forward as “a muppet” back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured automatic promotion while Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends and Moving Forward

All appears has been resolved with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost up front and Bamford aiming to revive his career.

The Wilder chant went viral in April. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder commented back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I have no issue whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain about the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke as well and had a half-hour chat with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we used to give it and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Struggles

The forward featured in 18 appearances with Leeds United last season but the former Forest, Chelsea FC & Boro striker has struggled with injury in recent years.
