The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for Two More Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the network launched a fresh animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns was sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. During a period often defined by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The show follows three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Network Praise

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and supported its distinctly quirky sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about observing this lovable family go about their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its long-running sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
