Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
An important representative said the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
